Another Day With The Masters

3400 meters this morning in the pool this morning, 1500 keeping up with the masters before blowing up m arms! Dang paddles! I refuse to pull with them and pulling without is definitely a challenge to keep up. My pull without paddles was not only strong it kept me on the heals of one of the masters for 300meters before my arms had had enough. It was an awesome day! Just need to get stronger!

Goal: 4000 meters sub 1 hour. Lets rock this!

Lake Side Ride... Not Entirely

Today was a 2hr long ride, by myself in the brisk 36degree December weather. The ride stared off great and I was able to find my way to the Provo Marina... from there I was on my own trying to find my way by the lake. Unfortunately I inherited a complete lack of direction from my mother and instead of ending up by the lake I some how ended up on Highway 89 flowing the Mt.s, which is about as far east away from the lake as I could have been! Despite losing feeling in my toes and fingers, almost getting hit by a car driving on the wrong side of the road and getting lost it was a fantastic ride! Clocked in at 35mi and cant complain it was a great training day.

Back to the Masters

5:15 am and my alarm goes off somewhere in the dark. I reach for my phone and type in a text to my training partner "Are you awake?" I ask as I hit snooze and flip over onto my side. It is pitch black and warm in my bed. A few minutes pass by with no reply... I begin to let my mind wander "My bed is so comfy, and my training partner is asleep... hum I should just go back to sleep too." My eyes pop open and I hop out of bed. I know if I don't get moving now I never will. I come to the realization as I pull on my swim suit and grab my mesh bag that no matter how committed my training partners may seem when it comes down to it, it is just me. My phone buzzes as I head for the front door, "I'm awake."

My training partner Hoz met me at the pool. It was his first time back in the pool in 15 months, my first time back in 2 months. We were in for a treat. Forget doing the actual work out, I was just trying to keep up! Take 2 months off and you are basically starting from scratch. Lets just say I had my ass handed to me. At least I was in good company. Hoz met up with me on the wall and all he could say was "I am going to make you cry on the bike tonight." All in all, a good day to be back in the water.

Getting Started

The off season can be a tough time for all. Between loving parents who cant seem to feed me enough, finals, and dark cold mornings were I'd rather stay in bed sticking to a training plan is going to be a challenge. But this week it is back to the grind, or should I say lane lines, trainers, and snow covered pavement?
Between Orem masters swim team and entering the Utah Valley University Triathlon Club in the USAT National Challenge (which will be focusing on swim millage for the month of December) I should have swimming covered, for this month at least!
Next I've enlisted the help of some of the killer cyclists from the UVU Cycling Team, at least long indoor trainer rides will be more interesting.
Finally the run, guess I will just have to suck it up and get out there in the brisk 10 degree mornings!
Time to get cracken' 2011 70.3 you don't know what's coming!
